Every member's story is individual and may involve a combination of approaches. Meagan’s story showcases weight loss success using Nutracheck alongside gastric sleeve surgery.

How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

I have lost over 100 lbs and dropped from a size 24 to a size 8/10. This took around two years.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

By the time I reached adulthood, my weight had spiralled out of control. At my heaviest, I weighed 114 kg (251.5 lbs) with a BMI of 40.9. I was physically and emotionally drained, and I knew I needed something to help me make a real change. That's when I made the life-changing decision to have a gastric sleeve procedure privately in the UK.

In preparation for my surgery, I knew I had to start making changes immediately. From January 2023 to April 2023, I lost 20 kg by tracking my calories with Nutracheck. For the first time, I became aware of macronutrients and how different foods impact my body. Nutracheck opened my eyes to the hidden sugars and high- carb content in my diet, helping me make more informed choices. I had my gastric sleeve surgery in April 2023.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

I followed a calorie deficit group on Facebook and it was the most recommended app for tracking calories.

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with my weight. As a child, food was my comfort, my reward, my coping mechanism- whether I was happy, sad, or stressed, I turned to food. Unfortunately, I never truly understood the nutritional value of what I was consuming. I craved all the wrong things and overate foods that were marketed as "healthy" but were actually packed with hidden sugars and excess calories.

Have you experienced any health improvements?

Incredibly, my body fat percentage has gone from 51.5% to 19%. This number is something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. I have built strength, toned my body, and feel more powerful than ever. My focus is no longer just on weight loss, but on maintaining a strong, healthy body that allows me to truly enjoy life.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

Nutracheck has been a game-changer for me. I love how I can create and log my own meals, and tracking my weekly calorie and protein intake keeps me focused. The app's simplicity, excellent customer service, and supportive community have made all the difference in my journey.

Two things have been crucial to my success: Nutracheck and weightlifting. I have logged 8,842 meals in Nutracheck - it's an essential part of my daily routine. I never cheat the system or skip days; I hold myself accountable by tracking everything, even when I go over my calorie allowance. Every few months, I recalculate my Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) and adjust my macros accordingly.

What was the most difficult thing about your weight-loss journey?

The gastric sleeve was a powerful tool to kickstart my weight loss, but it was by no means an easy way out. The real work comes from making daily choices that align with my goals. I show up at the gym. I meal prep. I make mindful food choices. And yes, I still enjoy chocolates and ice cream - I just log them and ensure I stay within my limits.

How do you feel now compared to before?

If someone had told me two years ago that I would be where I am now, I would have laughed. But here I am, stronger, healthier, and more confident than ever. My journey isn't about deprivation - it's about balance, education, and consistency.

Any notable milestones to report?

Beyond the numbers, what truly excites me is how much more I enjoy life now. Hiking has become one of my biggest joys - I used to struggle with even the smallest hills, but now I actively seek out challenging trails, conquering them with a sense of accomplishment I never thought possible. The freedom of movement, the ability to explore nature without exhaustion, and the sheer joy of feeling fit are something I cherish every day.

Another huge change is my relationship with fashion. Before, shopping was a frustrating and often disheartening experience. Now, I love being able to walk into a store, pick something I actually want to wear, and feel amazing in it. I appreciate clothing and style in a way I never did before - it's no longer about just finding something that fits, but about expressing myself and feeling confident.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Use Nutracheck as your accountability partner, be honest and track everything - if you trust the process, you'll see results.
  2. Train with weights! Weight training is phenomenal for fat loss and toning up. I have lost almost 8 stone and have minimal loose skin, and I believe that's very much down to picking up weights from the start of my journey. Adding in a progressive overload, and again, always being accountable is key.
  3. Fuel yourself on natural proteins. Don't be fooled by good marketing tactics with the word 'high protein' slapped on labels. Use real proteins as your go-to source. It will keep you fuller for longer, fuelled and focused.
