What was your start weight, your current weight, how much weight have you lost, and how long did it take?
My starting weight was 15st 10lbs220lbs99.8kg, and my current weight is 11st 6lbs160lbs72.6kg pounds. That’s a loss of 4st 4lbs60lbs27.2kg, and it took me 11 months.
Was there something that prompted your decision to lose weight?
I was a bridesmaid at my cousin’s wedding, and looking back at the photos of myself, I felt ashamed. It gave me the courage and determination to never dread having my picture taken again. I want to enjoy photos and look back and smile - especially now that I have a little girl.
Have you experienced any health improvements?
I can’t believe I actually look forward to going for walks now. When I’m walking, I feel like I could go for miles! Not carrying the extra weight has made such a huge difference - I feel so much more energised.
How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?
It wasn’t easy at first. I’d tried every diet you could think of (even some silly ones), but consistency is key. As soon as I started seeing results, I found it much easier to stick with it.
What was the most challenging aspect of your weight loss journey, and how did you overcome this?
The challenging part was consistency. I was so close to just giving up, as at first I didn't see a difference on the scales! It takes time, and I think I struggled to process that, but now I see that the time I gave it has paid off!
How do you feel now compared to before?
I genuinely feel like I have a new outlook on life. I see things with such a positive mindset now, and I feel so excited for the future.
Do you have any non-scale victories you would like to share?
I can walk for miles and miles now, and look forward to it rather than dread it!
How did you feel the app supported you-were there any specific features you found helpful?
The app supported me so much. It helped me track every single calorie. I used the forums feature, where I communicated and shared my goals, outcomes and advice with everyone else who are on a weight loss journey. I recorded all my measurements, as sometimes when I didn't see a difference on the scales, I could see a difference in the inches! Which again helped me to keep motivated.
What does weight maintenance look like for you now?
I’m still on my journey and still mindful of what I eat, but I just enjoy my food now. I have also grown a passion for trying different fruits and veg! I love the fact I can still eat what I want, but just in moderation!
What advice would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?
My advice would be that if you put the time and effort into yourself, you become the best version of yourself you can be, and that is incredible. Consistency is key, and don't be too hard on yourself. Just make the move and download the app, and you won't look back. I feel so confident and so happy, I just wish I started sooner!
